What is the purpose of this 'art', if I may ask? Provoke? Insult people? Make a political statement?
I think it's a never-ending discussion - who do the religious figures belong to. To the people who hold them dear, or to everyone? Does the fact that the image has been reproduced so many times that it creates a sense of being just everywhere, mean that it's a 'pop' image to be freely used by anyone? As Baudrillard (probably him :)) pointed out, some images hide nothing else but more and more images. This painting can thus be said to reproduce tons of similar religious paintings. That way, it shouldn't be argued that it is produced in order to ridicule certain people and their feelings. Christ is more of a 'pop' figure than Mohammed, in the sense that the image of the former has been reproduced in tons of paintings, while the latter is supposed to never be visualised. Thus, Mohammed with a bomb is more direct hate speech than Christ with a condom, which can be said to ridicule religious art and not more. Yet beyond all this, the piece DOES mock religious people and their feelings, by referring not just to religious art, but to God in the words written on it.
Crazy, i wish you to go on with your work and fight for your free expression rights.

The point is, in my opinion, that the works of Ben are stored in the DA server and Ben can't access to them anymore.
I mean, you can censor, but Ben must have the right to access to all the data, contacts (think about the consequence for the job) saved on the server.
I´m with you Ben, you are real martyr of free expression they shouldn’t have done what they do to you, you have all the right to make your point my friend even if it´s pointless, but I tell you one thing you are disgusting, this is not art of any kind, this has nothing to do with creativity, anybody who really has nothing at all to say could have figured out this stupidity, you are just daring to be as stupid as few could, cause you can’t provoke a true impact with real esthetics, make some inner search and try to find were really that hurt you feel comes from, Ben don´t blame a man, an institution if you want, but not a man, who you just hate cause you hate yourself. I hope for your journey towards total expression and freedom to be without any misleading obstacles as the ones you have find to this day. To those who speak of people "stealing" their god: God does not belong exclusively to right wingers or wing nuts. God's words and wisdom may seem plain to the unenlightened (I always laugh when jack offs say "God said Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve), but God is a subjective and personal matter. To some the Bible is a indictment to hate: God hates homos, god hates "sinners", god hates those "dirty towel heads." God is love to others: the U.U. accepts people from all walks and sexual orientations. Ultimately God belongs to no one and everyone. There are countless interpretations of God, would you denounce the ones you don't agree with as heresy? You have no more right to complain about people hijacking your religion than anyone else. P.S. cow towing to wingnuts by inhibiting freedom of speech is "ungodly," so to speak. The papacy itself is responsible for the eradication of hundreds if not thousands of other, and I think, more enlightened variants of Christianity over the years. Does that mean the canon is more right than say the Gospel of Philip, written by one of the foremost papal candidates of the third century, just because catholics had the book burned?
